"Dream Job"

Loftus stared at the PADD still not believing the text.

You are hereby assigned the position of Executive Officer aboard...

“Can't be. Someone must have screwed up the orders.”

She knew for a fact the job belonged to someone else... someone who had more than earned it.

But she couldn't help feeling proud.

Loftus had seen rapid promotion during the war, and had thought it had ended.

“Maybe dreams do still come true,” she whispered.

“At least I can hold onto that fantasy until the orders get rescinded.”

After a moment, terror welling up...

“But what if they are right?”
