The transport trembled as it made escape velocity. Mei-Wan focused on the PADD, hoping it would help.

She read:

Seven pounds, five ounces--- why did North America still give vital statistics about newborns in that ancient system?

A boy. Enlai Lau.

The boy from another time, another life. The boy Mei-Wan had given away.

Todd's child...

She wasn't going to punish herself. She'd done the right thing.

He would know her as aunt, nothing more. That's how she had wanted it.

As the transport calmed, now cruising the vacuum of space, a part of Mei-Wan's soul yearned for her son.
