The Oceana Class Starship, U.S.S. Chamberlain, NCC-91701, is the most advanced and largest ship ever constructed by Starfleet. Not only does it possess the most advanced drive, weapons, and shield systems known to the Federation. Its Main Bay acts as a mobile drydock for Starships up to the size of the Defiant Class. Most Oceana Class Starships have been assigned Defiant Class vessels as their Tactical Support Craft.

The true power of the Oceana Class comes from the eight Matter/Antimatter Reactors which can operate in various combinations under the control of the Reactor Core Syncronization System (or RCSS). This development delivers more power than any other Starship in the Fleet's history making the Oceana Class capable of higher warp factors as well as providing the power neccesary for the vessel's Primary Weapon System, the Reactive Quantum Plasma Emitters. All of this contributes to the Oceana Class Starship's primary mission profile of defending the Federation against advanced threats such as the Borg.
